This is a waterfall 40 Kms away from Bangalore. Since the water droplets falling from the rocks shine like pearls, the waterfalls came to be known as Muthyala Maduvu or Pearl Valley.
Drive down Bannerghatta road and reach Anekal village and turn to the right from Anekal and drive for another 10 minutes to reach the valley. There is ample space provided to park your vehicles opposite to the KSTDC hotel.
There are 300 steps leading down to the first waterfalls, which is small but enchanting during the rainy season.
There are many birds chirping and making nest happily in the many bushes and trees that cover the landscape here.
Dragon flies flit around busily finding place to rest on rocks.
Many bright and colorful wild flowers in bloom add color to the thin forests. Flowers like Glory lily, Swamp Day Flower, Yellow Mallow, Fragrant Swamp Mallow, Snake Weed, Scarlet Morning Glory, Purple Morning glory, Day flower etc., blooming are a delight to the butterflies. Coffee Senna trees with golden yellow flowers are all over the hills.
From the first waterfalls you need to trek about a kilometer down the valley on rugged path to reach yet another water falls cascading down the opposite hill. The brave and the fit can climb through the waterfalls covered by a green canopy clambering on rocks to reach the main waterfalls.
The climbing is exhilarating and adventurous with rewards of small lagoons formed by the tiered waterfalls.
The waterfall is small and the water is mainly from the rainwater collected on the rocky pools at the top of the hills. It is best visited during the rainy season.
There is a small temple dedicated to Shiva, which is a perfect place to catch your breath as you climb back.
