- To keep Ginger fresh for a longer time, store them in the refrigerator in a jar filled with water.
- Chop Cauliflower into florets and soak them in water to which little vinegar or 1tsp of salt has been added. This will help to dislodge the dirt and the worms.
- Wash plastic and melamine crockery with wheat flour to remove stubborn turmeric stains.

Hey Zara, Another method of preserving Ginger is to bury them in mud in a pot. It keeps the Ginger root fresh!
Hi Shantha,
Ginger in a jar means jar should be closed with a cork or open jar? bcoz i kept in a small steel cup filled with water, but it is getting spoilt…
pls advice..
Thanks,
Nagashree
Nagashree, either way the Ginger should remain fresh. Change the water everyday. I keep in steel or melamine cups and they remain fresh for a week.
Hi Shantha,
I tried the ginger method of keeping it in a water bowl inthe fridge, I must say the ginger stayed fresh for a month.
