When I see staircases made out of wood, they churn out a lot of memories of old homes. The staircase would lead to the attic with a wooden floor, where kids would gather and play indoor games like alugulimane/Mancala game, chauka bara/ludo, ane kallu/5 stones, card games, anthakshari and so on.
Hi Shantha, WOW Loved this post. This was so nostalgic for me and took me back to my childhood days. Our ancestral home in Nadahalli had the same kind of staircases. I remember all the fun we had in the attic playing these games. WOW SO much fun!! Thanks for posting this.
Yes Banu, it was so much fun. 🙂
WOW!
Me too, love this post. I remember my Grandma’s house in Hassan that had an ‘Atta’ like this, and to this day I am still so comfortable staying in that home or go up the attic whenever I’m there.
Makes me want to say ” Nammane…illi nenapugaLive tumbaane” 🙂 🙂
This generation is missing out on such ‘Avibhaktha Kutumbaas’. So thankful to you for posting this, Shantha, you have such creativity and bring the best in little sweet things in life like these.
