Pookot Lake is a perennial freshwater lake in Wayanad district of Kerala. Forests around the lake enhance the beauty of the lake making it the most popular destination in Wayanad.
Panamaram stream, which is a tributary of Kabini River, is the main source of water for this lake. Total area of the lake is 13 acres and depth is 6.5 meters.
A walking path is well maintained all around the lake. It is a joy to walk all around the lake. During the rainy season it is lovely to watch the rain make patterns on the water canvas.
Entrance fee is charged for individuals, camera, and parking. Row and pedal boating are available. Kayaking is also an option.
For shopping, there is handicrafts shop known as “Uruvu” in the premises of the lake. A visit to the aquarium and park will keep the kids in a good mood.
