Sims park is named after J.D.Sim who was the secretary of the Madras Club in 1874. The garden is spread over 12 hectares with more than 1000 plant species at an elevation of 1780 mts above sea level.
The park is divided into 8 major sections. You will have to walk down the hill lined with exotic and old majestic trees like Rudraksha (bead) tree, Pine, Cypress, Fir, Magnolia, and so on. Shola forests are left undisturbed and they add mystery to the park.
Flower beds, lawns, and rock gardens are carefully laid out to give a symmetric look to the park.
Lily Ponds add the beauty and pergolas, bridges add to the Japanese touch. Fishes in ponds are a delight to children.
A small island garden is created and boating is allowed in the pond around it.
200 varieties of beautiful roses are grown to perfection in Sim’s park.
The annual fruit and vegetable show held in May attract a lot of tourists.
