Mango Thokku is a chutney prepared using Raw Mangoes. This can be preserved for a long time.
Ingredients:
2 Big Raw Mangoes
2 – 4 tbsp Chili Powder
1tsp Fenugreek Seeds
¼ tsp Hing / Asafoetida
1tsp Turmeric Powder
6 – 8 tbsp Oil
1tsp Mustard Seeds
6tbsp Salt
Method:
Wash and dry Mangoes. Peel and chop into pieces and add Salt and store in a dry jar for a week.
Roast Fenugreek Seeds and grind to a powder. Grind Mangoes, Chili Powder, Fenugreek Seeds, Hing and Turmeric powder to a paste.
Remove to a bowl.
Heat Oil and add Mustard Seeds and when they splutter remove from heat and let it cool. Add the Mango paste to it and mix well. Remove to a dry airtight container.
To Serve: Remove 4 tablespoons of thokku in a cup and add 2 tbsp of fresh grated coconut. Mix well. Serve with hot Rice and Ghee.

How long does a pickled mango last in the fridge? Few months or less or more?
Can anyone say why my manga thokku got spoiled by fungal growth within 4 days of preparing it…
i groung the manga into paste along with red chilli,salt and fried it in a pan using ample amount of gingely oil with added musteard seeds and asafoetida powder…and stored it in a dry jar after cooling…
what has gone wrong…?
it happened twice…
