A sweet prepared using Gram Flour. Besan Laddoo is extremely popular in North Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. As children we used to love gorging on them.
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
2 Cups Besan/Gram Flour
1 Cup Ghee/Clarified Butter
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
Few chopped Cashew nuts and Almonds
Few Raisins
Method:
In a thick-bottomed pan, add Ghee and let it melt. Now add Besan and fry over low flame.
The mixture becomes lighter and there is an aroma.
The ghee starts leaving the sides of the pan. Keep stirring.
Remove and keep it aside to cool. Fry Cashew nuts in Ghee until it turns pink and add it to the Besan along with Raisins and Sugar.
Mix well and shape into laddoos.
I took besan in 1 small coffee cup size and tried this, but didnt turn out well..
[1] can u give the measurements in grams instead of cups and [2] also the time to fry besan to remove raw smell.. [3]1 more thing… In this picture, how is the color yellow, when roasted it will b orange or brownish right?

People prefer cups to grams. So I will be giving the measurements only in cups. This recipe when followed cannot go wrong.
Besan should not be fried until it is brown, it is to be fried until an aroma arises.
