Heralehannina Chitranna is rice flavored with Green Chilies and lots of Citron Lemon juice. Lemon Rice is an important dish during auspicious occasions like weddings and also during festivals in Karnataka.

Ingredients:
3 Cups cooked Rice
1tbsp Coriander Leaves, Chopped finely
¾ Cup Grated fresh Coconut
Juice of 1 Citron Lemon
Salt to taste
For the Seasoning:
1tbsp Oil
2tsp Bengal Gram
1tsp Urad Dal (Black split Gram)
1tbsp Ground Nuts
1tsp Mustard Seeds
1tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Dry Red Chili, broken
3 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
Few Curry Leaves
Method:
Heat Oil in a kadai/pan and add Bengal Gram, Urad Dal, Mustard Seeds, and Ground Nuts.
When the Mustard seeds splutter add Green Chilies, Curry Leaves and Turmeric Powder.
Pour this seasoning over the Rice and mix well.
Add Coconut, Salt, Citron Lemon Juice and Coriander Leaves and mix thoroughly.
Remove to a serving dish and serve.
