Kadalebele Usali is prepared using Channa Dal or Split Bengal Gram was distributed as prasada / blessed food in a Srinivasa temple, which was opposite to our house.
Time Required: 30 Minutes + Soaking time
Ingredients:
1 Cup Kadalebele / Channa Dal / Split Bengal Gram
6 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
¼ Cup freshly grated Coconut
1tsp Mustard Seeds
1tsp Kadalebele / Split Bengal Gram
1tsp Uddinabele / Split Black Gram / Urad Dal
Juice of 1 Lemon
Few Curry Leaves
2 sprigs Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
Salt to taste
Method:
Soak Kadalebele for an hour. Cook Kadalebele until soft, sieve and keep aside. Heat Oil in a pan and add Kadalebele and Uddinabele. When they turn pink add, Mustard Seeds and when they splutter add Curry leaves and Green Chilies. Add the Kadalebele and stir. Add Salt, Lemon Juice, Coconut and Coriander leaves and stir. Remove to a serving dish and serve.
