Kalina Usali is prepared using a mixture of whole lentils like Chik Peas, Horse Gram, Green Gram, Cow Peas, Kabuli Peas, and so on.

Time Required: 30 Minutes + Soaking time
Ingredients:
2 Cups Soaked lentils of your choice
3 – 4 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
¼ Cup freshly grated Coconut
1tsp Mustard Seeds
1tsp Kadalebele / Split Bengal Gram
1tsp Uddinabele / Split Black Gram / Urad Dal
Juice of 1 Lemon
Few Curry Leaves
2 sprigs Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
Salt to taste
Method:
Cook soaked lentils until soft, sieve and keep aside. Heat Oil in a pan and add Kadalebele and Uddinabele. When they turn pink add, Mustard Seeds and when they splutter add Curry leaves and Green Chilies. Add the Kadalebele and stir. Add Salt, Lemon Juice, Coconut and Coriander leaves and stir. Serve hot Kalina Usali with Roti, Chapthi, or Rice and Rasam.
