Avarekayi Masala Vada are fritters prepared using winter/flat beans. A tasty snack on a winter evening with a cup of masala tea.
Time Required: 40 Minutes
Ingredients:
2 Cups fresh Avarekayi/Flat Beans
1 Big Onion, Chopped finely
4 – 5 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
5 sprigs Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
Few Curry leaves, Chopped finely
Oil for deep-frying
Salt to taste
Method:
Soak Avarekayi in water for 20 to 30 minutes. Squeeze out the bean from the skin. This is called as hithikavare (squeezed beans).
Grind hithikavare (squeezed beans) to a coarse paste and remove to a mixing bowl. Add all the other ingredients to it and mix well. Divide it into small lemon sized balls.
Heat Oil and flatten each ball on the palms and deep fry.
Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
